A Poem

Embattlement
by Joshua Haynes

Striving daring caring sharing
So much to give a
Fleeting moment passes us
Quickly onto the next,
The next will have a turn.

Sit down and think of a
Time when time matter not
To those who cannot matter.

So much to give to
Those who want, have not.
Secret dealings on the cusp
Try to fade into the dreary dusk
Of time when time will spill only little.

Fail to come, pose and conquer
Life will carry on
Siege once and life will carry on

Red flower enveloped by black or
Blue, sun or orange or white
Appears unhealthy far from the stem
As a child remembers his future
Through sullen, sunken hopes.

Rejoice: tomorrow comes at once
To carry those of spectrumed trials
Flying through the remnant.
