GI Invasion at the Hanut
It’s been a rough week. I began feeling ill last Tuesday and by last Thursday, I had a 102° fever. I cannot remember ever being so sick in my life. On Saturday, we left Rabat for Fez and tomorrow I will be going to Meknes for my Community-Based-Training. I can’t really say that I saw much of Fez because I was either in the bathroom or lying down on my bed. I feel almost 100% and very glad that I am eating again and that I’m able to walk around a little bit.
I will be spending the next eight weeks between Meknes and Fez. In Meknes I will be doing smaller-scaled projects with the local artisanat, and then all of the actual training will be in Fez. In approximately one month I will be finding out where my final site will be.
The Hanuts here are really cool. They are these plentiful little stores that carry everything from Tide to spices. The drivers, however, are not so cool. You have to dodge in and out of traffic just like in a game of frogger. After a while, if you don’t get hit, you manage to get pretty good at it!
