Yum.

Greetings. I’ve learned many things in the month that I have been in the Peace Corps, and most recently, I have learned that pommegranites here in Morocco are absolutely great!! When you eat too many pommegranites (excuse the spelling, as I have never written this word before), however, your fingers turn yellow. I won’t stop eating them, though, as this merely gives into the system.
I generally like the food here very much. I always have bread with apricot preserves for breakfast and the coffee is absolutely piping hot. I have this feeling that the coffee is something similar to the chicorĂ© (sp?) coffee one would receive in New Orleans. I eat breakfast around 7am, and about 10am we have mint tea and cookies. About 12:30pm, we eat a big lunch of salad and vegetables some type of meat with Moroccan spices and for dessert we have fruit. When I get home, I usually have more coffee with milk and my host family gives me some type of food. Then around 10pm we have dinner. Last night we had a delicious Harira soup that is very typical of Ramadan: yum! I really like the lentils and the fava beans in a cumin sauce. I have no idea why I’ve never really eaten cumin before; it might just have to be the spice of the god(s). Well, with all of this eating, I must say that I’ve actually lost weight since being here: go figure!
